
During the welcoming program, Major Dr.Beteley Teka, Director of the International Relations and Institutional Cooperation Directorate, provided a compressive presentation on EDU’s overall activities and the French language project currently being implemented at the university. He also highlighted potential areas for future collaborations between EDU and the French embassy.
Following the presentation, Brigadier General Kebede Regassa, Commandant of Ethiopian Defense University, emphasized EDU’s keen interest in strengthening its partnership with France. He specifically called for collaborations in research, long and short-term academic trainings, and military student education facilities, and student and staff exchange programs. Additionally, he underscored the need for smart classrooms and modern laboratories to enhance French language training at EDU.
In response, Colonel Plissier reaffirmed the French government’s commitment to supporting the Ethiopian military through education. He emphasized that France is dedicated to expanding its cooperation with EDU, particularly by enhancing the university’s French language training program with modern equipment and resources.
Furthermore, Major Arnaud Rimbert, the French Language Coordinator from the French Embassy, assured continued support for the French language training project at EDU, reinforcing the importance of language skills in strengthening military ties between the two nations.
As part of the visit, the delegation toured the French language training computer laboratory and classrooms, gaining firsthand insight into the university’s ongoing initiatives to develop language proficiency among its military students. This visit marks further step toward deepening Ethiopian-French military cooperation, with education serving as a key pillar in fostering strong and lasting bilateral relations.
