Ethiopian Defence University Hosts Distinguished Delegation from Qatar

Bishoftu, April 28, 2025 (EDU) Today, Ethiopian Defence University had the honor of hosting a distinguished delegation from the Joan Bin Jassim Academy for Defence Studies and the Military Attaché of the State of Qatar. The visit aimed to further strengthen bilateral ties and explore future opportunities for collaboration in defence education, research, and specialized training.

Brigadier General Kebede Regassa, President of Ethiopian Defence University, spoke on the occasion, stating:
“This visit reflects our shared commitment to excellence, mutual learning, and the strengthening of strategic defence relations between our institutions. It is an important step in deepening our collaboration in defence education and training.”

The president further emphasized the need for increased cooperation in areas such as aerospace engineering, armaments, and other critical defence fields.

Brigadier General Kebede Regassa also recommended that specific areas for short -term and long-term training be identified to enhance the development of both institutions.

The delegation from the Joan Bin Jassim Academy, led by Brigadier General Khalid Mansoor Al Khayrain, Deputy Commander of the National Defence College of Qatar, expressed their gratitude for the warm reception. Brigadier General Al Khayrain stated:

“We are pleased to visit Ethiopian Defence University and are eager to continue strengthening our military education relationship. We look forward to developing both short-term and long-term training programs for academic staff and students, with a focus on the specific needs identified by the university.”

The delegation also visited various engineering laboratories, where they gained insights into the university’s cutting-edge research and educational capabilities. The visit included a tour of the university’s state-of-the-art facilities, where the delegation engaged in productive discussions with university leadership.

This visit marked a significant step toward fostering long-term partnerships and advancing mutual interests in defence education, training, and research between Ethiopia and Qatar.
