Türkiye Ambassador and Military Attaché Visit Ethiopian Defence University to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Bishoftu, April 16, 2025 (EDU) In a significant diplomatic engagement, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Ethiopia, H.E. Ambassador Berk Baran, and the Turkish Military Attaché, Lt. Col. Mehmet Ali Aygui, visited the Ethiopian Defence University to explore avenues for deepening bilateral cooperation in military education and capacity building.

The delegation was warmly received by Brigadier General Kebede Regassa, President of the Ethiopian Defence University, along with members of the university’s top management. The high level discussion focused on expanding collaboration in academic training, technological exchange, and institutional development.

Brigadier General Kebede Regassa, in his welcoming remarks, emphasized the strategic importance of the visit: “This engagement marks a pivotal step in strengthening our international partnerships and enhancing institutional capacity across education, training, and technology.”

Ambassador Berk Baran expressed Türkiye’s strong commitment to supporting the Ethiopian Defence University by providing both long term and short term training programs for military personnel and academic staff. He noted Türkiye’s keen interest in developing sustainable partnerships that foster professional growth and mutual advancement.

Lt. Col. Mehmet Ali Aygui also commended the university’s remarkable progress and institutional achievements. He reaffirmed that Türkiye gives high priority to defence related scholarships and will continue to support initiatives aligned with the university’s strategic goals.

This visit marks an important milestone in the growing partnership between Ethiopia and Türkiye, reinforcing shared values in defence education, research, and regional cooperation.
