Ministry of Defense realizes the important role of education, training and research for the construction of trained modern army by establishing various higher educational and training institutions. Accordingly, Ethiopian Defense University (EDU) is a higher education institution established to meet the need of trained human resource for national defense in general with new innovations and adapted technological works.At present, EDU mainly provides education and training in Colleges of Engineering. Health Sciences and Resource Management; in the field of research, it is working through its Research and Development Institute.EDU has made significant contributions in supporting defense, defense industries, and other institutions that benefit from technology by providing high-quality education and training in various fields of engineering, health sciences and resource management. Not only this, EDU is delivering education for students from various African countries.
Following the national and defense reform, many issues has been explored in the defense strategic plan. In particular, the future size and strength of our army, the modern technological products that will be used forced EDU to revise its strategic plan. We are doing many remarkable achievements and reforms in the combined effort of our committed academic and administrative staff, domestic and international partners, and communities of EDU. I would like to thank you all for your efforts. Finally, I kindly invite all staff members and stakeholders to work with us for the betterment and transformation of our university.
