Office of the Academic Vice Commandant (AVC)

The Office of the Academic Vice Commandant is accountable to the Commandant with responsibilities for leading, coordinating and facilitating the University’s academic affairs.
The major duties and responsibilities of the Academic Vice Commandant are to:

• Lead the academic work as a head; chair the meeting of the Dean’s Council;
• Ensure that the standards of the curriculum of the University are maintained;
• recommend improvements, and ensure the quality of the teaching-learning process;
• Design a human resource development system for the professional development of the academic staff, and follow up its implementation;
• Evaluate requests submitted for renewal of teaching staff’s contracts and promotion, and forward recommendation to the concerned body;
• sign teaching staff employment contracts on behalf of the University;
• Make studies for the commencement of new academic programs, and supervise the implementation;
• Lead educational programs of Colleges under the University; follow up educational programs given jointly with Defense Colleges;
• Make sure that directives and guidelines that guide University academic works are prepared and duly approved, and follow up their implementation;
• Follow up and ensure the availability of inputs required for the teaching-learning process;
• Submit reports to the University Commandant regarding the preparation and provision of academic programs, budget need and utilization and human resource needs;
• Evaluate the academic performance of the University, compile reports and submit to the Commandant;
• Design a communication system between the University headquarters and academic sector departments in colleges; follow up its implementation;
• Advise the University Commandant on academic matters;
• Carry out such other activities given by the Commandant of the University.
