Advanced diploma in civil engineering was started at the college in 2001, with a number of 18 students. The first batch of students admitted and has graduated in the year 2003 and joined the MoD and subsequently two more batches were sent out in the year 2004 and 2005.As a result of a decision taken by the management of the college, further admission of diploma students into defense engineering college was stopped and the duty was assigned to Major General Mulugeta Bulli Technical college for admitting diploma students.
The management of the college decided to admit students to a degree program in civil engineering by including certain subjects of combat engineering and rechristening the degree as B. Tech degree in civil and combat engineering. Thus, the four-year degree program in civil and combat engineering came into existence.
A work shop was held in the college in 2007, thus the final curriculum after taking the remarks of experts in the workshop in to consideration came in to operation for the students admitted in the year 2008. Presently it is proposed to integrate the program in to a five-year degree program to accommodate more courses and make it comprehensive.
Under graduate program
The Department offers the field of Civil Engineering program at undergraduate (B.Tech.) level for a 5-year degree program as per the existing requirements of the MoD.
