Colonel Menelik Walle(PhD)

EDUCoE Research and Community Service Dean

Welcome to the Dean’s Office of the Ethiopian Defence University College of Engineering Research and Community Service. I firmly feel that the College of Engineering is one of the best sites in Ethiopia to do research and provide community-based services. By creating new information and improving evidence-based methods, our centers address some of the country’s most critical issues. Our researchers continually make new, practical contributions that will help our defense force, in particular, progress forward. The lively research that is now taking place in the dean of research and community service is critical to the promotion of our university’s goal and raises the quality of our research and community service programs.
With this in mind, the office’s mission is to design and supervise methods and means of promoting the relevance and quality of research, consultancy, and community activities at the university, to encourage and support members of the research staff to develop their research capabilities and to demonstrate excellence in research endeavors, and to act as a link between the university and the community in terms of research initiatives of mutual benefit. Furthermore, transfer knowledge to society through outreach (for example, collaborative research, workshops, talks, websites, and publications) and, where applicable, technology transfers (for example, collaborative research, contract work, and intellectual property commercialization).
The college offers more than 60 laboratories and workshops in several engineering disciplines, all of which are equipped with cutting-edge technology. In addition, the dean’s office contains well-organized research workshops outfitted with cutting-edge machines and equipment.
Furthermore, the research staff includes two Ph.D. holders, nine M.Sc. and M.Tech., holders, and two B.Tech., holders as researchers and experienced instructors specializing in several engineering disciplines. The office provides skill-based research, consulting, and community service, all of which are frequently reviewed and managed by a specialized quality assurance office in order to create harmony among research and academic staffs, as well as stakeholders. Our research staffs have acquired military professionals, military altitude, and military courage through ongoing exhaustive military trainings and doctrines, as well as merit and skill-based experience sharing schemes from senior researchers, academicians, and higher rank military officers and government officials, allowing them to play their role in any circumstance.
Last but not least, if you love your motherland and want to serve your country as a member of a military or civil engineering team, the Ethiopian Defence University College of Engineering is the place for you to achieve your aspirations and personal goals.
