Office of Quality Assurance and Relevance was organized in 2021 under the Office of Quality Assurance Directorate of the University. It is one of the units in College of Health Science (EDU-CHS) and is directly accountable to the College Commandant. The major responsibility of the office is coordinating and leading activities related to quality assurance and relevance in all departments and offices in the college. Besides, our office has the responsibility of cascading the activities of the Quality Assurance Director of the University to the college level.  

The specific activities of EDU-CHS Quality Assurance and Relevance Office are:

  • To prepare annual plan and lead day to day activities of the office by cascading the plan of the college and report to College Commandant
  • Coordinate and follow up practice of (implementation) of quality assurance activities at the college level
  • To monitor and coordinate the activities of academic internal and external quality audit at the college level  
  • To organize and send reports of the activities related to academic quality of the college to the EDU-CHS Commandant and Director for Quality Assurance of the University
  • Liaise the EDU-CHS with Education Training Agency on matters of academic quality and assurance.
  • To support the supervision activities of internal supervisory team of the college.
  • To follow-up the development and revisions of curriculums of programs in all departments in the college.  
  • To give trainings on reform tools and academic quality standards at the college level. 
  • To support the activities of good governance and monitor the service delivery standards of the offices as standard set by the EDU
  • .Advise the College Commandant on matters of quality and relevance
  • To support the activities of deliverology in the college so as to contribute to the quality of education.
  • To monitor the implementation of quality assurance and relevance as per the guideline of the university.
  • Publish and disseminate annual abstracts; self-evaluation reports research reports on quality issue, handbooks consists of policies, guidelines, standards , evaluation criteria audit instruments and checklists at the college level.

Quality Assurance System in EDU-CHS  

 In order to ensuring the quality of education, research, and services in EDU  and meet the required standards and satisfy the needs of stakeholders our staffs are involved in identifying and ensuring that appropriate inputs and procedures are in place and operational and that the outcomes of the academic programs and activities fulfill the expectations or meet the minimum requirements.

Our Office is also doing its best by apply Internal and External Quality Assurance mechanisms through continuous and cyclical process of monitoring, evaluation and improvement of the core activities (teaching-learning, research and consultancy) so as to guarantee that the research and education and training system of the college fits for its purpose‟ i.e., has meet the standards set by ETA and EDU-QA guidelines.

Quality Assurance Policy

To enhance quality assurance system our office implements policy frameworks that are cascaded from EDU Quality Assurance Directorate. The Policy frameworks include:

  • Rigorously and continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of its work processes and quality assurance procedures to ensure that they are operating in accordance with good practices in the best interest of stakeholders and the maintenance of academic excellence which the University aspires to.
  • Evaluating its core processes against appropriate national and international standards. As such the University employs formative as well as summative evaluation of programs, courses, instructional materials, teaching-learning, and research activities.
  • Evidence-based quality assurance methods, where outcomes and feedbacks from stakeholders will provide the basis for analysis and conclusions on which enhancement plans are drawn;
