Vice President for Research & Technology Transfer

The Office of Vice Commandant for Research and Technology Transfer of Ethiopian Defence University is accountable to the Commandant of the University. Vice commandant for Research and technology Transfer Lead the University research, technology transfer and community service activities. This office plays a leading, coordinating and facilitating role in research, technology transfer and community engagement related activities of the University. The activities of the office have been organized into three main research units: Office of research and Publication, Office of Industry Linkage and Technology transfer, and Office of Community and Consultancy Service.

1. 1. Lead the University research, technology transfer and community service activities; and convenes research and technology transfer Deans Council;
   2. Make research policies, directives, procedures, quality monitoring standards to be designed and approved by concerned organs that guide and implement research activities of the University; and follow its implementation;
   3. Prepare research strategic plan of the University; follow its implementation;
   4. Work with focus so that technology transfer activities are implemented in an organized and efficient manner;
   5. Organize conferences, workshops, and symposiums to present the results of the University’s research works; establish and distribute research Journals;
   6. Conduct research continuously to improve the quality and standard of research activities of the University; advice the Colleges, and Research and Development Institute for it to be implemented;
   7. Based on research, strive to establish research institutions under the University which work on research and dissemination activities that can greatly enhance the mission and success of the defense;
   8. Create forums to develop joint plans for the proper management of research activities to be conducted in collaboration with various sections of the defense, other local and international institutions; and monitor their implementation;
   9. Develop a directive which help to implement consultancy and community service activities efficiently and effectively; make them approved; and direct its implementation;
   10. Advice the University Commandant on research and technology transfer matters;
   11. Carry out such other activities given by the University Commandan
